I have splashed out a bought a part of history. This is my new classic
Brooks B17 saddle. Very little about the design and manufacturing process has changed in over 100 years. Made in England from specially grown and selected leather, tanned with vegetable based dyes, stretched, cut and riveted by hand.
The interesting thing about this recently revitalised company(which you can read more about
here) is the new purchasers experience. There is a lot of packaging involved. All of which is on recycled paper also with vegetable based inks. There are care instructions, thick backing card, catalogues, 2-part box and a 2010 issue newspaper with articles on various bicycle manufacturers, environmental issues, charity rides and other company activities.
I'm impressed and am filled with warm fuzzies about the product. This cow should be well happy that they went on be part of a fine saddle.
