Have a read of Jamer Hunts article its an interesting article that faces an issue we all have encountered in Studio this year. I'm undecided if he truly has a point or not, but the type of image he talks of do make for uncompelling viewing.

We haven't really used Post-it notes ourselves but our Irish collaborators have, and I have to admit I had no idea what they were trying to convey. We have the same problem of not having a lot of tangibles to photograph with this current project, aside from brown paper 'mind jotters'. Valuable no doubt, but far from pretty.

Read the comments too, for the counter-argument.

This article was thought provoking to say the least.

....Sharyn from work showed me this. Its not a parrot, I know. But its very cool. Nature is an inspiring phenomenon.

Polymorph is not a shapeshifting parrot!

Martin showed us some 'Polymorph' today. Its properties sounded very much like PLA bioplastic that I have been studying up on for studio at the moment. So I looked into it some more. 

This is what I found

• "Polymorph" is also known as Polycaprolactone
• As far as I can tell the chemical composition is vaguely similar to PolyLactic Acid once heat is introduced
• The main difference is that PCL is petrochemical based and PLA is agrichemical based(I hope that's a word, if not I stake my claim!)
• There are some instructables for its use here and here
• You can buy it at Jaycar and surplustronics

The stuff sounds cool, and Jaycar is just across the road from work.

Google Chrome Speed Tests

Great video, a bit of fun. Great high speed camera angles. I get the feeling it wasn't filmed with New Zealand's broadband speeds though.

I am a Chrome user, and yes it is faster.

Manufactured Landscapes

Ok so its not by any means a new film, but it is well worth watching. The film follows the travels of photographer, Edward Burtynsky through China. It gives us a look at the scarring of the earths surface and the taking of resources industry has done and that China has only just scratched the surface of what the western world has been doing for the last 150 years. I felt it was more sickening to watch than any of the Saw(insert number here) films, but at times it is oddly beautiful with its symmetry and juxtapositions. Its like looking at something you shouldn't, but you do anyway.

The 8 minute intro is staggering.
